Disney has crossed the $1 billion mark at the domestic box office faster than any studio in history, thanks in part to the success of this weekend's Captain America: Civil War.

The massive success and long legs of Zootopia is a key element in the studio's success this year, too, as is The Jungle Book, which has overperformed and continues to be one of the top five movies in the country.

With Marvel movies doing huge numbers, Pixar movies always a reliable blockbuster draw, and of course the Star Wars franchise now as well, it's likely no surprise that Disney was breaking its own record. Last year, it was June before the House of Mouse crossed the $1 billion benchmark, bolstered by the success of Avengers: Age of Ultron, Inside Out, and Cinderella.
