Some of the most fun moments of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. last season came out of Agent Phil Coulson's robo-hand. It's a unique plot device that they don't want to overuse, but at San Diego Comic-Con, actor Clark Gregg did tease that we'd see some upgrades, and that Coulson is probably getting them on a regular basis.

"Yes," Gregg said simply when asked if his hand would be getting bumped up, and getting more use this season. "I think Fitz just surprises Coulson with a new version, it's like an iPhone. He just comes up and hands him a new hand every once in awhile. In fact, maybe the instructions are just on the hand!"

Coulson starts season four no longer the Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., after the surprise six-month jump at the end of the last season finale. The shift back to standard Agent will likely be a difficult adjustment, but that's par for the course for Coulson. Since being revived from death, Coulson has had to deal with cyborgs, hidden enemies within his own ranks, alien monsters, and seeing a love interest murdered in front of his eyes. Luckily, he has a leg-up on his enemies - or at least a hand - as he and Mack team-up in the field to try to track down Daisy once more.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at 10pm.
