The fight for his humanity is at the center of Marvel's Man-Thing #2, as Ted Sallis attempts to stave off a return to the swamp that served as his home for so many years. In ComicBook's exclusive preview, that fight is taken to the streets of Burbank, California.
Writer R.L. Stine and artist German Peralta guide the fan-favorite as he fights to overcome his past and the perceptions that come with his external appearance. Stine recently spoke to ComicBook.com about his approach to Sallis' story, saying "I should say, "Oh, yes, I had a grand plan," but to be totally honest, I kind of did it one book at a time. I would get to this part of the story and then figure out what's the next part of the story. But once we had the nexus idea, and once we had Old Father about to be executed by an evil queen, then I had it. That was it. But when I first started out I didn't know what I was doing. I was so pleased with the opening scene in the movie studio where he's a total flop and they insult him and he has to leave. He scared the kids. He tested badly and he doesn't even get a ride back to the swamp. I kind of started with that. I thought that would be a funny way to start out."
Man-Thing #2 is written by R.L. Stine and drawn by German Peralta. The official description is listed below, and make sure to check out the exclusive preview in the gallery.
THE MUCK RUN AMUCK! Back in his old swamp, MAN-THING is visited by an ally from his past, while struggling with his new status in life. But the swamp is less than welcoming, with every creature seemingly out to get him! Crocodiles, bats and mosquitoes – oh my! Will Man-Thing be able to restore the balance of the swamp and the cause of this calamity? Or will the forces that are affecting the swamp prove to be beyond his control? PLUS!
