After the abrupt cancellation of ABC's Agent Carter after its second season, fans have been clear about wanting to see the series return, and it turns out that they aren't alone.

During Sunday's Television Critics Association summer press tour, Agent Carter executive producers Tara Butters and Michele Fazekas told IGN that they would be open to a revival of the fan-favorite series.

"Yes, we would do Agent Carter tomorrow, at the same time as this show. I love that show," Fazekas said. Fazekas and Butters are currently working on a new comedy for ABC, Kevin (Probably) Saves the World.

Fazekas also opened up on how the blend of season-long and episodic storytelling on Agent Carter was influenced by their work on The X-Files. Fazekas and Butters first met while working on that project.

"We did do that on [Agent] Carter, I would even back it up to how X-Files did it. X-Files had their long mythology arcs and their indvidiual episodes, and, at their best, each episode would touch on both," Fazekas said.

Agent Carter ran on ABC for two seasons and starred Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter. The character has appeared in several Marvel Cinematic Universe projects, making her last appearance in Captain America: Civil War, where the character dies. While there are no current plans for the heroine to return, Atwell herself has said that she'd like to see Peggy in more films or even her own movie.

"I'd love to see [Peggy] more in films. I'd love to see her in her own film," Atwell has said previously.
