Marvel Reveals First Look At 'Old Man Hawkeye'

Marvel is returning to the wasteland once more, and they've given fans a first look at Old Man Hawkeye #1.

The gorgeous page was drawn and colored by the talented Marco Checchetto and Andres Jose Mossa, and features the first heartbreak of many in this desolate world. A long-haired Hawkeye is seen standing against a car as he recalls the moment when Black Widow died in his arms during the heroes fall.

The only indication of what killed her is seen in the upper right corner, as the edge of a sword can be seen. Could it be Taskmaster? Who knows, but Hawkeye will likely return the favor when he collects himself.

Old Man Hawkeye will give fans new insight into the Wasteland, as it takes place before Clint Barton reunites with Logan. It will also take place before he went blind, but writer Ethan Sacks explained how that will still be an integral part of the story.

"In this story, he's losing his vision and that sort of forces him to confront something really horrible that happened to him personally 45 years ago, and go on his own hero's journey while he still can." Sacks said. "It's very much like a ticking clock that's forcing him into action."

Old Man Hawkeye takes place 5 years prior to the events seen in Old Man Logan, which translates to 45 years in the current universe's future. It will feature plenty of added layers in regards to Old Man Logan, but it will still stand on its own.

"Old Man Hawkeye is, on its own terms, an epic story," Alonso said. "Readers will gain insight into previously established characters, explore new corners of the Wasteland, meet new characters, and discover exciting Easter eggs all throughout Clint's journey."

While it will stand apart from the original series, Old Man Logan's Steve McNiven is returning to deliver a cover to issue #1.

Old Man Hawkeye will be a 12 issue series, and issue #1 will hit comic shops in January of 2018.
