The next two Avengers films are set to cover ten years of Marvel Cinematic Universe characters, and even introduce some new ones along the way. But the fate of some of the MCU's supporting cast members is currently a mystery, including Sharon Carter/Agent 13 (Emily VanCamp).

During a panel at the recent Television Critics Association press tour (via Deadline), VanCamp was asked about the possibility of her returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. VanCamp responded relatively vaguely, but seemed to indicate that she has not been approached about returning quite yet.

"Marvel can call at any minute," VanCamp said.

Interestingly enough, VanCamp gave a similar answer during the last TCA press tour, hinting that Marvel often gives a sort of short notice when it comes to cameo appearances.

"No idea." VanCamp shared last year. "With Marvel, they can give you a call the day before you shoot. You don't know what's going on with their movies because they're very secretive."

Sharon Carter first made her debut in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which saw her go from Steve Rogers' unsuspecting neighbor to a badass and trustworthy S.H.I.E.L.D. agent. Carter then reprised her role in Captain America: Civil War, helping Team Cap on their run from the law (and locking lips with Captain America in the process).

Since then, fans have clamored for some sort of return appearance from Sharon, especially now that her connection to Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) has been long confirmed. Fans almost got their wish through an appearance on Marvel's Agents of SHIELD, but scheduling conflicts prevented that from happening.

"I think it was discussed, but I was working on Revenge at the time," VanCamp previously revealed.

So, who knows? Maybe Sharon could make a surprise cameo in either Avengers: Infinity War or the as-yet-untitled Avengers 4. After all, quite a few characters have yet to be seen in the film's promotional material.
