Arrow's Brandon Routh: Guardians of the Galaxy Was Just Phenomenal

What's Arrow and Superman Returns star Brandon Routh's favorite comic book property at the moment? Is it Man of Steel, which reboots a franchise he starred in? Arrow, on which he'll play The Atom this season?

No! Like everybody else (this writer included, so that's not meant to sound sarcastic), he loves James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy.

"Guardians [of the Galaxy] was just phenomenal," Routh told the DJ Tannner radio show. "I did not know anything about that world, about that book. I was blown away and James Gunn did a fantastic job with that. I saw it twice in the theater and I have a two-year-old son, so I haven't seen a movie twice in a theater in a long time."

After the hosts agreed that Guardians was a great movie, Routh added that, like many fans, he was won over by the first trailer and "Hooked on a Feeling."

"What kills me is they used for the trailer the Blue Swede song, 'Hooked on a Feeling,' and that is my two-year-old son's favorite song," Routh said. "He sold me once I heard that in the trailer. I was like, 'I've got to see this movie.'"

Routh joins Chris Hemsworth, Robert Downey Jr. and Al Pacino among those who single out Guardians as one of their favorite superhero movies.

Guardians of the Galaxy is in theaters now and is currently the top-grossing movie of the year at the U.S. box office. Routh will appear in the upcoming, third season of Arrow which begins on October 8 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
