Doctor Strange Trailer Only Small Taste of How Crazy Movie Gets According to Screenwriter

The world of Doctor Strange will show a much more bizarre Marvel Cinematic Universe than we've seen so far. However, the teaser trailer released, with the world bending over upon itself (as seen in the screenshot) and an astral form being punched out of the titular character played by Benedict Cumberbatch, is just the tip of the iceberg.

"You are only getting a small taste of just how crazy this movie gets. We ahve only just the slightest hints of magic in there," co-screenwriter C. Robert Carghill said on the podcast The Sunday Service. "There are major characters you don’t even glimpse in that trailer, there is so much stuff going on, that this thing is just nutty, the stuff they let us do, I can’t believe they let us do it."

He said that Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige and producer Stephen Broussard would push the writers to be "crazier" and "play around" on a constant basis.

Carghill also said that Marvel pushed them to "let the movie stand on its own," and didn't force in a lot of the connective or set-up tissue.

Doctor Strange, directed by Scott Dericksson, is in post-production now for a November 4, 2016 release.
