Marvel Studios may have had everyone thinking that they more or less rolled with the punches when the Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer leaked early -- "Dammit, Hydra" -- but now that their promotional priorities have been taken care of, the entertainment giant is looking for the identity of the leaker.
The Hollywood Reporter has the news that Marvel wants to subpoena Google in the hopes of finding the name of a user who uploaded a copy of the file to his Google Drive account, resulting in the leak.
The trailer was meant to debut during an episode of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. on ABC, but shortly after Marvel made that announcement, the file leaked online. Marvel bounced back quickly, releasing an official copy and making the most of the publicity ahead of a massive film slate announcement.
They later debuted an extended version of the trailer on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., presumably because these things aren't exclusively for the fans; they're also part of a larger business strategy which was disrupted by the leak.

Marvel hopes to obtain the IP address associated with the YouTube and Google+ belonging to someone who is operating under the name John Gazelle. The THR article stops just short of saying the documents pertain specifically -- or exclusively -- to the leaked trailer, noting that a scene from the film that seemingly sets off Captain America: Civil War has also leaked online in recent days.
