The Infinity Gauntlet oven mitt included in May's POWER-themed Loot Crate was awesome-looking; an opportunity for you to feel the power of the universe while doing your baking. That is, until you actually used it, it melted, and your hand burned. A recall announced after the first few reports of the mitt melting has now been detailed, with a site set up for an easy claim that will get fans a t-shirt and a Simpsons key chain in place of the glove of ultimate power.

"Recently, we received reports that some of the Infinity Gauntlet Oven Mitts found in May's POWER-themed crate could not withstand certain levels of high temperature. An unexpected and unfortunate development for one of the most powerful items in the galaxy," they wrote. At least they kept their sense of humor about the whole fiasco.

The recall is voluntary, and doesn't require any product to be sent back, so if you want to keep your Infinity Gauntlet and display it (it's just recommended you don't use it anymore, if you have at all - officially, Loot Crate recommends you cease use and destroy it), then you can. All you have to do is contact Loot Crate through the button on the page linked above, sign in with your Looter info, and you're set.

Out of around 360,000 mitts sold, Loot Crate received reports that 241 people were burned, "including reports of the glove melting and burning consumers' skin." It's likely there were far more defective mitts, as people stopped attempting to use them after reports of melting became widespread.

Loot Crate's August subscription box is themed to "ANTI-HERO," and will feature Harley Quinn, Archer, Hellboy, and more inside.
