Will Doctor Strange Casting Be Announced At Comic Con International?
During his presentation at Barcelona's CineEurope convention today, Marvel Studios honcho Kevin Feige reflected on the importance of Doctor Strange's success, and shared with the audience that the studio will be casting the announcing the lead role shortly.
"Strange is very, very important, not just because it's an amazing character study, and a journey of a man who's gone from this very arrogant surgeon to somebody who is quite zen and literally keeps all of reality together on a daily basis, but it also is going to open up a whole other side of storytelling for our movies," Feige is quoted as telling the audience, alluding to the magical corners of the Marvel Universe into which the studio believes Strange is their entry point. "So we're about to hire a writer to redo a draft, and we think we'll be casting probably in the next month or two, and announcing an actor, and then we get into production in the spring of next year."
Besides the obvious -- that any actor cast in the next month, if it were to happen, would likely be announced and introduced at Comic Con International: San Diego next month -- there's the added component that Feige seemingly confirmed (without using names) recent rumors that Marvel Studios is in talks with Prometheus writer Jon Spaihts to rewrite the script for Doctor Strange.
The film is not yet confirmed on Marvel's production slate, although it's been nearly two years since the first time Feige admitted to MTV News that it was in active development so nobody really has any doubts it's coming soon.0comments
