The wheel will begin to turn this week when the first trailer of the adaptation Stephen King’s fantasy epic finally arrives.
The preview of The Dark Tower has reportedly been sent out to theaters—according to Trailer-Track—and could premiere ahead of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, giving fans their first glimpse of Idris Elba, Tom Taylor, and Matthew McConaughey.
Based on the series of novels by King, the movie will star Elba as Roland aka the Gunslinger in a battle against McConaughey as the villainous Man in Black. The series ties in many different aspects of Stephen Kings’ works together and proposes a multiverse of sorts in his stories.
The Dark Tower book series consisted of seven novels and the narrative included a theme of rebirth in an endless cycle.
The film’s director Nikolaj Arcel has indicated that the movie will be both an adaptation of the original story as well as a sequel, indicating that this is another cycle in the Gunslinger’s eternal battle against the Man in Black.

The movie is said to be the first in a series which is supposed to include television entries, including a miniseries, but of course all of that depends on how well this film performs at the box office.
The Dark Tower was originally slated to begin production nearly a decade ago, but various plans have fallen through as filmmakers such as J.J. Abrams and Ron Howard have attempted to bring the ambitious story to screen.
Now the movie is finally scheduled to debut in theaters this summer after suffering numerous delays.
The movie is finally scheduled to premiere in theaters August 4.
