Appleseed Alpha Trailer Released Online

Sony Pictures has released new trailer for Appleseed Alpha, the latest animated film in the Appleseed franchise. Based on the Japanese manga by the Masmune Shirow, creator of Ghost in the Shell, Appleseed Alpha is about a young female soldier, Deunan, and her cyborg partner, Briareos, who survive through post-World War 3 apocalyptic New York in search of human's future hope, the legendary city of Olympus. Shirow's four-volume Appleseed series has been adapted into two previous films, an animated miniseries, and two video games. The series is known for Shirow's trademark blend of cyberpunk, military fiction, and high action, along with plenty of political intrigue and philosophical musings. Appleseed Alpha is directed by Shinja Aramaki and features music by Skrillex. Appleseed Alpha will be released to home media on July 15, 2014.
