Avengers: Infinity War Will Bring End Of Avengers As We Know Them

Things are looking grim for the Avengers as we know them on the big screen. During a Q&A in promotion of the Avengers: Age of Ultron DVD/blu-ray release, producer Jeremy Latcham and Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige opened up a bit about their precious Cinematic Universe and the roster which helped launch said universe may be disbanding.

Being asked about Infinity War and whether it will serve as more of a conclusion to phase three or a lead into phase four, Latcham said, "It definitely is an end to some version of the team that we've come to know in The Avengers. Who knows exactly what's gonna happen yet in that film but I think this version of that team, and I think we hint to it at the end of Age of Ultron, that the team will be a evolving. And one of the things that we love from the comics is that the roster is always changing. New people are coming onto the team. You can pick up an Avengers book 10 years later and you don't recognize the people on the cover but the ideas and the ideals that make the Avengers the Avengers still exist and I think that's part of what this culmination will be. We're seeing this version of the team doing this thing to save the universe, the galaxy, however you want to put it, and then we'll kind of see where that goes. You know? It's not the end of the Marvel Cinematic Universe but I think it's the end of part of it, for sure. We're still trying to sort out which parts."

With Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Samuel L. Jackson, and other members of the Avengers cast's contracts nearing their fulfilment, many of us assumed phase three would be the Marvel Cinematic Universe's possibly the end of an era and the MCU's pinnacle moment. Thanos vs. everyone in Infinity War seems to be that moment.

Avengers: Infinity War Parts I and II comes out in 2018 and 2019, respectively.
