A month ago, Variety reported that Oscar-winner Cate Blanchett (The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings) is in talks for a leading role in Thor: Ragnarok. Since then, there has been no confirmation that a deal is in place.

While attending the Palm Springs International Film Festival Gala this past weekend, Blanchett was asked about rumors of her possible involvement with Thor: Ragnarok. "I would love that," she told USA Today. "I'd love to get fit and punch people."

However, the 46-year-old actress recently stated that she'd like to take a year off from acting. "I don't know what I'm going to do, actually," she confided. "After every film, you think: 'OK, I'm done, I'm done now, that's enough.'"

Thor 3 pre-production in Australia will begin in January of 2016 and filming is set to begin in June of 2016.

Thor: Ragnarok will star Chris Hemsworth (Thor) and Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner/The Hulk). It'll be directed by What We Do In The Shadows' Taika Waititi, based on a script by Christopher Yost, Craig Kyle and Stephany Folsom.

Thor: Ragnarok will be released on November 3, 2017.
