Deadpool Done As Romance/Drama Trailer

20th Century Fox's marketing has hit a home run with Deadpool. One of their many ingenious ideas was spoofing romantic films to play off an R-rated superhero film opening in theaters on Valentine's Day.

Now a fan has gotten in on the act by editing together a new trailer that presents Deadpool as a romantic drama about Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) trying to overcome cancer to live out the rest of his life with his true love, Vanessa (Morena Baccarin). Aw! It's surprisingly effective when you strip away the footage with over-top-violence, snarky/vulgar humor, and even the Merc with A Mouth in his superhero costume.

Based upon Marvel Comics' most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.

Cast: Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, Ed Skrein, T.J. Miller, Gina Carano and Brianna Hildebrand.

Deadpool hits theaters on Feb. 12, 2016.
