Channing Tatum (21 Jump Street, Magic Mike) arrived at the 73rd Annual Golden Globes Awards on Sunday night with his wife Jenna Dewan-Tatum (Supergirl) and the most-talked about hairstyle on the red carpet.

Tatum's new hairstyle is trimmed short on the sides, a deep-side part, and his long, unevenly cut bangs were swept to the side. It has drawn comparison's to an emo teenager, Justin Bieber, Stefon (Bill Hader) from Saturday Night Live, Crispin Glover in Back to the Future/Willard and Pete Wentz in his prime.

Devoted followers of fashion have ripped it apart, however, most didn't realize that Tatum's new hairstyle is more than likely for his upcoming role in the 20th Century Fox's X-Men spinoff film, Gambit. Tatum is starring as Remy LeBeau (Gambit), who has featured some bang-heavy hairstyles in the comics. I'm not saying it was a perfect match with his comic book counterpart, but keep in mind Tatum probably combed it differently to blend in with last night's event. It didn't work, but I assume that's what he was going for. Plus, with 2 months to go before filming begins, it's probably a work-in-progress.

Check out some snaps of his new hairdo in the tweets below.

Gambit will begin filming in New Orleans this March.
