In an interview with SciFi Now, Fox's Mark Millar has revealed some details on director Josh Trank's highly anticipated Fantastic Four reboot. As the overseer of Fox's version of the Marvel Comics Universe, Millar has been talking to Josh Trank regularly about the Fantastic Four movie. Millar sees a lot of similarities between Trank's superhero found footage movie Chronicle and the Fantastic Four. For example, both feature a group of people transformed into something more than human. Millar had previously revealed that Josh Trank would be including some of the classic Stan Lee and Jack Kirby stuff in the Fantastic Four movie. While Millar didn't go into plot details in this new interview, he did address the type of tone that Trank would be taking with the movie. Mark Millar said, "What I wasn't expecting actually was just how funny and likeable he could make this as well as getting the more awesome moments on screen – I use awesome in the traditional British sense and not the California sense awesome, you know? The Ridley Scott moments, and the Fantastic Four really are jaw-dropping in the same way you feel when you saw Alien for the first time. There's some moments in this – not to be specific – that are actually gonna be phenomenal on screen and stuff you haven't seen in a superhero movie before." While a director trying to make a superhero movie "funny and likeable" would probably have previously brought up bad memories of 1997's Batman & Robin, Joss Whedon proved it's entirely possible with The Avengers this past summer. Given how well Chronicle turned out, Josh Trank looks like he could be up to the task of presenting Fantastic Four in a way that will please both comic book fans and the general public. While it was previously announced that the Fantastic Four reboot would be released in 2015, the exact release date has also now been revealed. The Fantastic Four will be released on March 6, 2015. The year 2015 should prove to be quite the year for superhero team movies as Avengers 2 has already been announced for summer 2015, and a Justice League movie is rumored to be targeted for a release some time in 2015 as well.
