As reported yesterday, experts were estimating a $60-65 million opening weekend. They estimated that if Godzilla could reach $6 million in its opening night then it may even top out at $70. Well, Godzilla smashed the $6 million mark on opening night. After bringing in $9.3 million upon opening, it seems that Godzilla will not only meet but surpass those high end $70 million expectations. In Godzilla, the world's most famous monster is pitted against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity's scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence. Godzilla opens in theaters today.
