Happy Birthday! William Shatner Turns 85 Today

Happy birthday, William Shatner! The actor is celebrating his 85th birthday today.

Shatner is best known as Captain James T. Kirk from the original Star Trek series. As Captain Kirk, Shatner starred in every episode of the famed science fiction television series, and its six subsequent feature films.

Shatner has also led a successful television career outside of the Star Trek universe, holding many headlining roles in other series. He starred in Boston Legal for a number of years as Denny Crane, and held a recurring role in $H*! My Dad Says as Dr. Edison Milford Goodson III.

This year, Shatner released the book Leonard: My Fifty-Year Relationship With A Remarkable Man in which he describes his and Leonard Nimoy's lives as they played out together starting with The Man From U.N.C.L.E. to all things Star Trek.
