Jon Voight Cast In Harry Potter Spinoff Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them

Jon Voight has joined the cast of Harry Potter spinoff Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. The film has also added Selma actress Carmen Ejogo and Humans actress Gemma Chan. The studio did not reveal any character information for the newcomers, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Fantastic Beasts is currently filming in England. Eddie Redmayne leads the film as Newt Scamander, the wizarding world's leading magizoologists. The film is the first of a trilogy set 70 years before the events of the original Harry Potter.

Fantastic Beasts follow Scamander as he travels to New York while researching for his textbook, from which the film takes its name. It's the same textbook Harry and his friends use in class at Hogwarts decades later.

Harry Potter creator J.K. Rowling is making her screenwriting debut with the film, which will be directed by Harry Potter film veteran David Yates. The film also stars Katherine Waterston, Ezra Miller, Colin Farrell, Dan Fogler, and Samantha Morton.
