Justice League

In his latest Fatman on Batman podcast, Kevin Smith offered up a more detailed description of the first photo of Ben Affleck as Batman, which included Superman looming in the background. He also let fly a conspiracy theory, which we've previously reported on Comicbook.com. Could it be that the upcoming Batman Vs. Superman movie is actually Justice League? Smith said, "Now there are rumors that it might not be Batman Vs. Superman at all. That it may indeed just flat out be the Justice League movie. So maybe it's Man of Steel: The Justice League or something like that." Smith continued, "Why do we think this? Why is this rumor circulating out there? Well, of course from the obvious Batman and Superman pair up that we know is coming with Ben Affleck playing Batman, they've added since the last time we did the show, Wonder Woman.  Gal Gadot…her name is. She's in those Fast & Furious pictures, I guess. She has been cast as Diana of Themyscira. We assume it's Themyscira. We don't know the details yet." Smith added, "So you've already got Batman, you've got Superman, you've got Wonder Woman. There's your trinity, right there. Then, there's a rumor that perhaps Aquaman is going to be joining the cast. And  there's a rumor that the John Stewart Green Lantern will be joining the cast. So if that's the case kiddies, smells like we've got ourselves a secret Justice League movie brewing, so good for Zack Snyder and David Goyer." When talking about the release date delay until 2016, Smith offered up some more support for Batman Vs Superman being Justice League. Smith pointed out, "The official reason that they've given is that it's going to take more time to execute Zack Snyder's vision for this movie than they believed in the beginning, which lends toward the whole 'I think this is the Justice League movie.' Because now they're going, **** it, we have three characters in…let's do another draft…let's get Arthur in there, you know, let's get John Stewart in there." Batman Vs. Superman (or maybe Justice League) is scheduled to be released in movie theaters on May 6, 2016.
