Mark Wahlberg Teases Mini-Dinobots In Transformers: The Last Knight

On Wednesday, while being driven to a New York City press event for his new film Deepwater Horizon, Mark Wahlberg conducted a live Q&A session on his official Facebook page. When the the 45-year-old actor was asked about Transformers: The Last Knight, he revealed that the film will feature "Mini-Dinobots" and his character, inventor and scientist Cade Yeager, will be on the run.

"It's a cool new story. It's kind of like a 'man-on-the-run,'" he shared. "Sir Anthony Hopkins is also in the film. We got a cool new cast. And cool new robots. Cool new villains. And some cool new Dinobots. I think you guys are really gonna go crazy for the Mini-Dinobots."

Now we know how Hasbro will replenish their Transformers toy-line. The Dinobots (robots that transform into dinosaurs) made their cinematic debut in Transformers: Age of Extinction (2014), the fourth installment in the series. Four of them (Grimlock, Strafe, Slug, and Scorn) appeared on screen and another three (Slash, Slog, and Snarl) were included in the film's toy-line.

The cast of Transformers: The Last Knight will feature Mark Wahlberg ("Planet of the Apes") as Cade Yeager, Isabela Moner ("100 Things To Do Before High School") as Izabella, Josh Duhamel ("Life as We Know It") as Lieutenant Colonel William Lennox, and Tyrese Gibson ("Furious 7") as Robert Epps, as well as Jerrod Carmichael ("Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising"), Anthony Hopkins ("Thor: The Dark World"), and of course, Peter Cullen as the voice of Optimus Prime.

Michael Bay, who has directed the previous four installments in Transformers live-action film franchise, returns to direct the fifth installment. Transformers: The Last Knight was written by a trio of screenwriters: Art Marcum, Matt Holloway, and Ken Nolan.

The Paramount and Hasbro partnership is responsible for the worldwide blockbuster success of the Transformers franchise, which has earned $3.8 billion to-date, and whose films, directed by Bay, are amongst the highest grossing movies of all time.

Transformers: The Last Knight is set for release June 23, 2017.
