Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures have released a "Meet the Director" video for the upcoming film, Godzilla. In the video, director Gareth Edwards lays out the vision for his Godzilla. Edwards wants to bring back the serious, realistic tone of the original film. "Basically, we just wanted to make a version of Godzilla where we took it really seriously," says Edwards. "The original 1954 version is a very serious film. People maybe think it's a B movie, perhaps. When you watch it again, it's really an analogy and a metaphor for things like Hiroshima and Nagasaki. It's a very serious take on a monster movie and I love to take science fiction seriously. It's my passion really." In Godzilla, the world's most famous monster is pitted against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity's scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence. Godzilla comes to theaters May 16.
