Miles Morales

Fans who may be wondering if Mile Morales will get a turn swinging around New York City on the big screen in the Amazing Spider-Man film series will be disappointed to hear that producers Matt Tolmach and Avi Arad have firmly dismissed that possibility when asked by IndieWire. "No," said Arad. "The one thing you cannot do, when you have a phenomena that has stood the test of time, you have to be true to the real character inside – who is Peter Parker? What are the biggest effects on his life? Then you can draw in time, and you can consider today's world in many ways. But to have multiple ones… I don't know if you remember, but Marvel tried it. And it was almost the end of Spider-Man." When asked if Peter Parker would always be the one and only cinematic Spider-Man, Arad and Tolmach said, as long as they are in charge, "Absolutely." You have to be believe that Arad is referring to "The Clone Saga" when he refers to Marvel having previously tried to have multiple Spider-Mans. While it's true that most fans woud consider that story a failure, his dismissal of the idea that it could ever work makes him sound a little out of touch with the success of the Ultimate Spider-Man series and Mile Morales as a character. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 comes to theaters May 2.
