Quentin Tarantino Lists The Lone Ranger Among His Ten Favorite Films This Year So Far

Quentin Tarantino has released a list of his ten favorite films so far in 2013 through The Quentin Tarantino Archives. It's something he also did in 2010 and 2011, but something he skipped in 2012, because he was tied up with a little movie called Django Unchained (which made a lot of other people's Top 10 lists). Among Quentin Tarantino's Top 10, there are some movies that most would expect like Gravity and Before Midnight. There a also a few like The Conjuring and This Is The End that make sense given Tarantino's usual taste in films. And there are also a couple surprises that will likely get many talking. Despite the fact that superhero movies dominated the box office again this summer, Tarantino only includes one superhero film on his list. While Iron Man 3 and Man Of Steel might have been the most successful superhero movies at the box office, Tarantino actually picks Kick-Ass 2 as his only Top 10 superhero movie. Even though Kick-Ass 2 was considered somewhat of a disappointment at the box office, the pick makes sense for Tarantino, given that he's made more than a few violence-filled movies himself. However, the movie on Tarantino's list that will likely get everyone talking (and possibly scratching their heads) is The Lone Ranger. Disney's The Lone Ranger was one of the biggest box office flops of the year, and it also received some of the most savagely negative reviews from critics of any film in recent years. Some have protested that the film was not as bad as many critics indicated, and there was a little bit of a pile on mentality among critics once things started heading downhill for the film. To his credit, Tarantino doesn't appear to have let what anyone else might think to have influenced his list. The list doesn't offer any explanation as to the reasons behind Tarantino's selections, but in each he must have seen something worthy of recognition. Of course, with 2013 still in process, Tarantino might update the list, where some films are added and others fall off, but for now here are Tarantino's Top 10 (in alphabetical order). 1.  Afternoon Delight (Jill Soloway) 2.  Before Midnight (Richard Linklater) 3.  Blue Jasmine (Woody Allen) 4.  The Conjuring (James Wan) 5.  Drinking Buddies (Joe Swanberg) 6.  Frances Ha (Noah Baumbach) 7.  Gravity (Alfonso Cuarón) 8.  Kick Ass 2 (Jeff Wadlow) 9.  The Lone Ranger (Gore Verbinski) 10.  This Is The End (Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg)
