Star Wars Fans Set World Record For World's Largest Lightsaber Battle

Not everyone in Los Angeles had the fun of Star Wars: The Force Awakens spoiled for them last night.

Some, instead, gathered to assemble the world's largest lightsaber battle.

(It isn't yet clear whether they've broken the record, but we should know soon.)

You can check out a local news report below.

The record was set for the world's largest lightsaber battle over 24 hours and was aided by participating cities in San Diego, San Francisco and Seattle, says LA's ABC-7.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens, directed by J.J. Abrams from a screenplay by Lawrence Kasdan & Abrams, features a cast including actors John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Academy Award winner Lupita Nyong'o, Gwendoline Christie, Crystal Clarke, Pip Andersen, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow. They will join the original stars of the saga, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens hits theaters December 18, 2015, kicking off a new trilogy of Saga films as Episodes VIII and IX are already scheduled.
