Star Wars: Rogue One is being directed by Gareth Edwards (Godzilla) and will star Felicity Jones, Ben Mendelsohn, Diego Luna, Sam Clafin, and Riz Ahmed. The plot involves a band of resistance fighters uniting for a daring mission to steal the Death Star plans. We don't know much about film outside of all of that.
Sources for JoBlo believe they can fill in some blanks. They say the film will be set between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. That's when the Empire was at its height, which means the film needs a "darker and grittier" tone. Edwards wants to make Rogue One feel like an "old school war film," like 1987's Hamburger Hill. Stormtroopers will appears as they did in the original trilogy.
Many alien life forms will be seen, new and old, like Admiral Ackbar's the Mon Calamari. A new droid will be a part of the resistance fighters stealing the Death Star plans. Felicity Jones' character will be a rebel soldier. The film will also include At-Ats, X-Wings, Y-wings, At-Sts and Yavin-4.
Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One will be in theaters on December 16, 2016.
