The date of the Star Wars: The Force Awakens Blu-ray release may have been revealed by Blu-ray.com.

The industry resource, which is often the first to know of when a release date is planned, has listed April 5 as the Star Wars date, which is the first we've heard of that date, but which lines up with the general "Spring 2016" that has been listed on digital pre-orders through Vudu and iTunes.

The site suggests that the film, which is in its second weekend at the box office, will arrive in two versions: A single-disc Blu-ray and a two-disc 3D Blu-ray combo pack which will also include a digital copy.

Generally, the Blu-ray release of a major title like Star Wars will come a few weeks after the streaming release of the film for purchase, although whether that will hold true for The Force Awakens isn't clear since there's currently no way to buy digital copies of Star Wars Episode films without investing in the full six-movie set.
