Suicide Squad: Margot Robbie Tried On Multiple Versions Of Harley Quinn Costume Including Court Jester One

When the first images of Margot Robbie's Arkham-inspired Harley Quinn from Suicide Squad hit the Internet, everyone from hardcore comic book fans to feminist bloggers wondered aloud why she didn't look more like her counterpart from Batman: The Animated Series and most of her comics appearances.

Well, according to Robbie, the filmmakers at least considered it...!

"We tried on every variation of the costume. I cannot emphasize enough how many outfits, and how many variations of the Harley Quinn costume we tried," Robbie is quoted as telling Hello Giggles. "We tried the court jester costume, we tried the corset and skirt, we tried leather pants, we tried literally every type of costume possible for her. I really love where we ended up. And who knows, maybe in the sequels we'll go with the court jester one. I think there's a world of possibilities."

...Sequels, you say?

Well, yeah. No big earth-shattering implications there. The idea seems to be that the film is expected to do well enough to earn sequels, as revealed last week when director David Ayer and star Will Smith started shopping a new project around Hollywood that would reportedly do its best to work around the Suicide Squad 2 filming schedule.

It feels good to be bad…Assemble a team of the world's most dangerous, incarcerated Super Villains, provide them with the most powerful arsenal at the government's disposal, and send them off on a mission to defeat an enigmatic, insuperable entity. U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller has determined only a secretly convened group of disparate, despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose will do. However, once they realize they weren't picked to succeed but chosen for their patent culpability when they inevitably fail, will the Suicide Squad resolve to die trying, or decide it's every man for himself?

Suicide Squad hits theaters August 5, 2016.
