The Dark Knight Rises' Hathaway Really Wants That Catwoman Spinoff

Discussing the upcoming release of Les Miserables with Access Hollywood, The Dark Knight Rises star Anne Hathaway re-stated her interest in a Catwoman spinoff film. Hathaway drew praise from fans, critics and even President Barack Obama for her performance as Selina Kyle, but fans who have seen the film will know that any spinoff would likely have to be a prequel, considering her character got a fairly clear-cut ending in the film. "No one's talked to me about it," Hathaway told the news magazine show. "I would love it. I actually, it's so embarrassing, I was at a press Q & A thing the other night for a screening of The Dark Knight, and the moderator asked me, 'So what was it like to say goodbye to the character?' And I burst into tears, because I miss her," the 30-year-old said. "It just makes me cry. I miss her. I love Selena so much and I love her presence in my life and getting to… I'm crying again. So assuming there was enough Kleenex in the world, I would love to do a spin-off." While some fans would no doubt scream "sacrilege" at any other filmmaker tinkering in director Christopher Nolan's Batman universe, Nolan himself has always stopped short of fueling those fires. In fact, the director was so impressed by Hathaway that he expressed months ago that he hoped she gets a chance at her spinoff. "For me, Gotham and these characters, I'm done. I've told our story and I'm moving on," Nolan is quoted as saying, but then turning it around and saying that for Hathaway, he'd love to see her do it again. "I certainly think she deserves it, she's incredible." Back in July, Hathaway told Digital Spy that she would be interesting in revisiting the character in her own film if "the right people" were involved.
