Whether true or not, the recent rumor that the Wachowskis are on the Warner Bros. wish list to direct a Justice League movie has certainly led to some strong opinions among comic book fans. While some point to their directing of The Matrix and their writing of the screenplay of V for Vendetta as proof they could do a Justice League movie well, others are pointing to pretty much everything else as a reason they shouldn't helm a Justice League movie. We've compiled some pros and cons in relation to Lana and Andy Wachowski directing the Justice League. Pro: The Matrix – Whatever negative you can say about their other films, the Wachowskis have directed a movie that will go down in history as one of the greatest sci-fi movies of all time. The Matrix introduced a lot of innovative style and techniques that dozens of other films have tried to copy since. The fact that the Wachowskis were able to create something as great as The Matrix gives hope that they have more fantastic movies in them. Con: Speed Racer – After The Matrix, it's been all downhill for the Wachowskis. While not bad movies, The Matrix sequels just couldn't live up to the original. On the other hand, Speed Racer was definitely a bad movie. Just the knowledge that the Wachowskis were responsible for Speed Racer sends a shiver up the spine of many comic book fans of what they might do to Justice League. Pro: Laurence Fishburne Could Be Martian Manhunter – The Wachowskis worked with Laurence Fishburne in their Matrix trilogy, so they could bring him onboard for a Justice League movie. There is no more perfect actor to play the Martian Manhunter than Laurence Fishburne. Con: Keanu Reeves Could Be Batman – As excited as we get about the thought of Laurence Fishburne as the Martian Manhunter, we can't help but think of another star from the Matrix trilogy. What if the Wachowskis bring Keanu Reeves in to play Batman? No disrespect to Keanu Reeves who has been a part of some great films, but we just cringe at the thought of him playing Batman. Pro: Cloud Atlas Looks Great – For all the people that say the Wachowskis haven't made a good movie since The Matrix, their upcoming movie Cloud Atlas looks incredible. While it's always difficult to read too much from a trailer, the extended Cloud Atlas trailer gives us nearly six fantastic minutes to go by. Everything about the movie looks amazing from the sci-fi imagery to Tom Hanks' acting performance. If the Wachowskis are able to pull off what looks to be a very complex movie, then it will go a long way in proving they have what it takes to make a Justice League movie. Con: So Did Speed Racer – While the Could Atlas trailer looks great, the early Speed Racer trailers looked pretty good as well. Speed Racer looked to be a visually stunning movie with an intense, fast-paced plot, but it wound up not being much beyond eye candy. It was drubbed by critics and deservedly so. As good as Cloud Atlas looks, Speed Racer reminds us that a movie can't be judged by its trailer alone. Pro: They Have Their Own Way Of Doing Things – Say what you will about the Wachowskis, they have a reputation for staying true to their vision and doing things their way. Some of the best movies in recent memory have come from directors who don't try to copy others and create their own vision. Con: They Have Their Own Way Of Doing Things – While independent thought and vision is usually a plus in movie making, creative types can be notoriously slow. If the Wachowskis vision winds up clashing with what the studio suits want, then the Justice League could wind up stuck in endless production delays. No one wants to wait until 2020 to see a Justice League movie.
