Tom Waits of Mystery Men Turns 65 Today

Music legend Tom Waits is 65 years old today.

Waits, best known for his unique voice and distinctive persona both on and off stage, the singer-songwriter has a decades-long career not only in music, but film as well, most notably in Jim Jarmusch's Down By Law and Bram Stoker's Dracula.

Born in 1949, Waits was signed to Asylum Records in 1972 and has enjoyed a career that has seen him celebrated by fans and critics as one of the most unique and dynamic voices in popular music.

Many comic book fans may remember hiim from his role in Mystery Men, though. The superhero parody featuring characters created by Flaming Carrot Comics's Bob Burden.

In 2013, his songs "Hold On" and "I Don't Wanna Grow Up" were sung by Beth Greene (Emily Kinney) in The Walking Dead episodes "I Ain't a Judas" and "Infected."
