Unused Logos For X-Men: Days Of Future Past
Thom Schillinger is a professional graphic designer who works on logos for television shows and movies. In May of 2013, Shillinger was asked to work on marketing material for Bryan Singer's X-Men: Days of Future Past. Having previously worked on X2, X-Men 3 and X-Men: First Class, Schillinger knew the look and feel of the franchise like the back of his hand.
"Since this was a time travel genre, I was asked to do before and after concepts and they wanted one Big 'X' version to have in clean and dented," he wrote on his blog. "I did a few conceptual images based in this direction throughout the project."
Apart from the "Big X," he was asked to incorporate a time-travel element to the film's full-title. To pull that off, Schillinger "went with a pond-ripple effect by cutting the type in the concentric rings that I bumped, slip and dragged around in 3D space top show a break[ in time]."
