Earlier this week, I had the chance to sit down with Walton Goggins, who decided Nashville, Tennessee would be a good stop on his Hateful Eight press tour.

While we talked all about his new film and working under the iconic director, Quentin Tarantino, we had to change course and talk super heroes a bit. After all, he was talking to ComicBook.com.

Earlier this year, Goggins appeared in the stoner-comedy American Ultra, alongside Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice star, Jesse Eisenberg. Eisenberg will be playing Lex Luthor in the upcoming slate of DC Comics movies and after the first trailer which explored his portrayal a bit, fan reactions have been mixed.

Goggins, however, isn't worried about Eisenberg's performance, at all. "I mean, look, I think that guy can do no wrong," Goggins said confidently. "He's an actor's actor, and he is so specific, yet you can't pin him down. He will do well, yeah. It'll surprise people, I'm sure." The confidence and level excitement were genuinely flowing from Goggins when he concluded, "I can't wait to see it."

Goggins must be particularly interested in the DC films, seeing as he was a Batman fan growing up. "My mother-in-law actually sewed a homemade Batman costume for me," Goggins admits. His inner geek doesn't stop there, though. "Second to [Batman], I really dug Flash Gordon." Like most kids, Goggins wanted to be the hero he just watched. "I just left there wanting that f---ing thing he had," he went on. "I thought he was so cool. Yeah, probably him. Sam Jones, dude, that's funny. I mean everybody can have Superman and Batman, I'll take Flash Gordon."

As for his Batman V. Superman alliance: neutral. "I'm just on defenders for truth and justice," Goggins says.

The Hateful Eight is now playing in select theaters and expanding its release in the coming weeks. Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice hits theaters March 25, 2016.

Check back to ComicBook.com later today for more of our chat with Walton Goggins where he takes us behind-the-scenes of The Hateful Eight.
