The first footage from the upcoming Warcraft movie will premiere at San Diego Comic-Con in July, producer Thomas Tull told IGN. Tull is excited for fans to see the first trailer for Warcraft, promising that it will be different than what has come to be expected from video game movies. "Doing a videogame movie has not really been done well," said Tull, "and I think part of the reason for that is it's been done for the wrong reasons. If you simply say 'How many people have played the game? How much money can we make?' You're doomed. You're doomed right off the start. Bringing a filmmaker like Duncan [Jones] onboard to distill that and bring the incredible cast onboard that he was able to get… we hope that when you see the first trailer for it, you're going to say 'OK, this is not what I was expecting.' He's an incredibly exciting filmmaker." When asked when fans can see the first trailer, Tull brought up Comic-Con. "We show up every summer at Comic-Con – we really enjoy it," Tull said, "and the fans seem to enjoy taking a look at things, so I wouldn't be surprised." As mentioned, Duncan Jones is directing and co-writing Warcraft. Jones's previous directing credits include Moon and Source Code. According to previous social media statements from Jones, Warcraft will finish shooting by the end of May. The "incredible cast" that Tull mentions includes Ben Foster, Travis Fimmel, Paula Patton, Dominic Cooper, Toby Kebbell and Rob Kazinsky. Warcraft is said to retell the origin of the conflict between the Human Alliance and the Orc Horde, the two major factions of the Warcraft video game franchise. The film will attempt to give both factions' point of view during the conflict. Warcraft is scheduled to be released in theaters on March 11, 2016.
