One of the most often asked questions we receive via email and social media is when the first trailer for Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice will be released. And while we don't know the definitive answer (and we doubt anyone else does either), we'll give you a rundown of the most likely release dates.

Every day there seems to be a new rumor in regards to when the first trailer for Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice will be released. One recent rumor suggested that the Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer would be released with The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies.

The rumor made sense from the perspective of The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies was Warner Bros. last big blockbuster movie of the year, and the studio could have used a Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer to boost ticket sales and end the year on a high note. However, that rumor proved to be false.

Now, the most common Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer rumors tend to circle around the Super Bowl or Mad Max: Fury Road. However, it's likely that these rumors are pretty similar to The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies rumors and are just people making educated guesses based on when they think a release makes sense. These educated guesses could turn out to be right or completely wrong.

The earliest that fans might have a chance to see the Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer is likely the Super Bowl on February 1, 2015. However, Super Bowl ads are very expensive. Would Warner Bros. really want to spend that much money promoting a movie that won't be released for over a year?

Of course, there's always the chance that Warner Bros. might just want to make a show of strength in the face of the Disney ads for Avengers: Age of Ultron and Ant-Man that will likely run during the Super Bowl. However, if Warner Bros. is going to spend $4.5 million on a Super Bowl ad this year, it seems far more likely that they will promote a movie that is actually going to be released this year.

After the Super Bowl, the next likely possibility for the first Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer could be Jupiter Ascending, which is due to be released February 6, 2015. Warner Bros. has a lot invested in this film, and a Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer could provide a much-needed boost to its box office. Warner Bros. could figure that anticipation is so high for the Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer that it makes more sense using it to boost Jupiter Ascending than spending millions to air it during the Super Bowl.

If the Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice Trailer doesn't debut during the Super Bowl or with Jupiter Ascending, then a possibility could actually be that the trailer debuts with Avengers: Age of Ultron on May 1, 2015. While it would seem more likely that Warner Bros. would want to save the trailer for one of their own films, the number of eyeballs that will be seeing Avengers: Age of Utlron might be just too big a temptation to resist.

However, it's probably more likely that if Warner Bros. decided to release the Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer in May that they will save it for Mad Max: Fury Road. Mad Max has a similar target audience, and the May 15, 2015 debut of the film gives director Zack Snyder time to put together the best possible trailer. First impressions are important, and Warner Bros. might not want to rush the first trailer for the film.

If the Super Bowl, Jupiter Ascending, Avengers: Age of Ultron and Mad Max: Fury Road all come and go with no first Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer, then fans will almost certainly get the trailer with Comic Con International 2015 in early July.
