X-Men - Storm, Cyclops and Jean Grey

It seems that three of the X-Men's biggest characters are will be returning to the big screen in X-Men: Apocalypse: Cyclops, Jean Grey and Storm. Speaking to SciFiNow Magazine, director Bryan Singer revealed what his future plans for the franchise were. "My next goal is how did the X-Men come together? That story hasn't been told yet, so [Days Of Future Past] is the inbetweequel," said Singer. "It's in between the birth of that relationship with Charles and Erik and the formation of the X-Men." When asked if that meant it was a good time to revisit and recast the iconic characters that made up the team in the original X-Men film, Singer said, "Yeah, exactly." Cyclops and Jean Grey were both killed off in X-Men: The Last Stand. Actor James Marsden played Cyclops in the original trilogy, though he didn't receive very much screen time after the first film and has never reprised the role since. Famke Janssen reprised her role as Jean Grey for a dream sequence in The Wolverine and Halle Berry has returned as Storm for X-Men: Days of Future Past. However, with X-Men: Apocalypse taking place in the 1980s, it's almost certain that these roles will all be recast with younger actors as younger versions of the characters. This also seems to lend credence to the idea that Cyclops and Jean Grey will be two of the three mutant cameos in X-Men: Days of Future Past. X-Men: Days of Future Past comes to theaters May 23, 2014. X-Men: Apocalypse is schedule to release on May 27, 2016.
