Hugh Jackman recently went on record that the next Wolverine movie would likely be his last outing as Wolverine. However, one thing  that wasn't clear in Jackman's initial statement was that it looks like he might sneak another X-Men movie in before the next Wolverine movie. While initial word was that X-Men: Apocalypse would just focus on the younger cast, Collider is reporting that they talked to Hugh Jackman under the assumption that he would be in X-Men: Apocalypse, and Jackman didn't correct them. In fact, Jackman opened up about how the ideal scenario would be to shoot both films back-to-back. "No, in a weird way that has crossed my mind if that's the way things play out, because physically, even though I was complaining about it because I found out about [X-Men: Days of Future Past] a month before I finished The Wolverine, so I was already planning on my cheat meals," said Jackman. "It's much easier because it's tough to get there, physically, but once you're there, it's easier to maintain it." Then, when Collider posed a similar question to X-Men producers Lauren Shuler Donner and Hutch Parker, they also went along with the idea of Jackman being in X-Men: Apocalypse, and the two films shooting back-to-back. "Well, we announced Apocalypse to come out in 2016, so that means we have to shoot next summer.  And then we'd have to shoot our new Wolverine movie either before or after that.  I think after because it will come out after," said Donner. "And as much as you have an ambition for these things, it is, as you said about Hugh, getting a script that everybody feels is ready and right.  Because that is the foundation on which everything is built.  So I think the goal will be Apocalypse for 2016, which means at the latest [filming begins] in summer 2015, and then the same thing with Wolverine, either before or after, but based on the script," added Parker. While this isn't 100% confirmation of Jackman being in X-Men: Apocalypse or the two films shooting back-to-back, it does seem like that is the goal for the producers and Jackman himself.
