If fans expected Marvel's Agent Carter to be officially announced at the Television Critics Association today, they would have been disappointed--but only a little. Following on this morning's revelation that Reaper creators Tara Butters and Michele Fazekas will showrun the new project, ABC's Paul Lee briefly discussed the as-yet-unconfirmed Marvel pilot, saying that "the script is great," and providing some details on the production. Deadline reports that Agent Carter was written by writers of Captain America: The First Avenger's Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, the first film in which Carter appeared. Playing off the Marvel One Shot short film that was packaged with the Iron Man 3 Blu-ray, Agent Carter will feature Cap's former girlfriend Peggy Carter, played in the movie by Hayley Atwell (who has expressed a willingness to bring the character to TV). Described as a period drama, Deadline says the series "chronicles her life as a budding secret agent after her boyfriend is stranded in ice." "She is such a strong character," Butters said of Peggy. "I think this is a great premise that would make a great series."
