Actress Alfre Woodard is making her presence felt in the Marvel Universe in more ways than one this year.
The actress will be playing the role of Mariah Dillard on Netflix's upcoming Luke Cage series, which drops in September, but she's also been cast in Captain America: Civil War, though that took place before the Luke Cage casting.
According to sources (via Screen Crush), the talented Woodard will be playing a much smaller yet no less important role in Civil War, as she will act as one of the core reasons that Tony sides with the government's new policy. She's the mother of an American citizen who perished during Ultron's attempted destruction of Sokovia in Avengers: Age of Ultron. She blames Tony for that on some level, and whether fair or not it hits a nerve with him, leading him to choose the side of pro registration.
In many ways, it mirrors the justification that Batman held in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. I guess we'll just have to wait till May 6th to see if it really is enough to justify Tony's side.
