Marvel and DC both have their own connected movie universes, but it appears they were both beat to the chase by Quentin Tarantino. The acclaimed director of Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill confirmed that all his movies existed in the same shared universe in an interview with the Australian television show The Project earlier this week, but with a unique twist.
Tarantino explained that his movies have one of two roles in his "realer than real" universe. "So From Dusk Till Dawn, Kill Bill, they all take place in this special movie universe," the director said. "So when all the characters of Reservoir Dogs or Pulp Fiction, when they go to the movies, Kill Bill is what they go to see. From Dusk Till Dawn is what they see."
Fans of Tarantino's movies have noticed that many characters in his different films share last names, leading to speculation they might be related. Many of Tarantino's films also mention a fictional Big Kahuna Burger chain of restaurants, building another link between the movies.
Tarantino's eighth movie, The Hateful Eight, is currently playing in theatres. Tarantino has previously stated that he'd make only two more films before retiring and hinted one of them would be a sequel to Kill Bill.
