The CW have released a season finale date for their DC Comics adaptation Arrow. The series' second season will conclude on May 14, closing out the season with what sounds like a large-scale battle between various factions the series has set up over the course of the year. "There's a bigger story with the Suicide Squad and … their involvement perhaps with Team Arrow in the future," said David Ramsey, whose character John Diggle will join the Squad for a March 19 episode. "There's a lot of set-up for the season finale…. Big stuff."
"I'm hearing that we want to rent out a block [of the city]" for the finale, series star Stephen Amell said later. "I'm hearing that the scale and the amount of people involved is something that we haven't yet seen on the show. This season has been incredibly expansive, you know? We have an episode coming up that's just Diggle, titled 'The Suicide Squad,' so we have a dynamic between a group that we haven't even seen. We've taken the Arrowcave from three people to five. We've had stuff happening in Russia. We have Malcolm Merlyn. We have the League of Assassins. We have so many things – including, of course, Slade and Brother Blood. There are so many things up in the air, and I think they're all going to land at once — and on opposite sides." After a hiatus to accommodate Olympics programming, Arrow returned last night with an episode that set up the rest of the season, revealing to Oliver for the first time that Slade Wilson is alive and well--and presumably he's smart enough to figure out quickly that his old friend is behind the Mirakuru flooding into Starling City via Brother Blood. Next week's episode--titled "The Promise"--will deal with the fallout of that revelation and then the show will take a two-week break before returning with "Suicide Squad" and "Birds of Prey." Based on the May 14 finale date, there will be one more two-week break between episodes after that before the season is over.
