The newest trailers for Arrow on The CW all feature the image above. That's a shot that we'll see, apparently in March 19's "Suicide Squad," as Oliver tried to track down Slade Wilson. It's also a callback to one of the earliest images we saw back in 2012: That of the Deathstroke mask with an arrow through the eye on the Island. We're still working toward exactly how the mask ended up on that beach in just that way, but in the present day, Slade Wilson isn't quite as dead as previously advertised...and now that Oliver knows that, it will color the rest of the show's second season.

It's a little surprising, though, that nobody yet had mentioned the similarity between the scene above, and one in the best-selling DC Comics miniseries Identity Crisis, prior to a reader e-mailing the images above and at right to us. In Identity Crisis by Brad Meltzer and Rags Morales, Deathstroke uses his bag of tricks to keep the whole Justice League at bay, until he's overwhelmed by a show of force that includes Green Arrow sticking an arrow in his (already empty) eye socket. Much later, near the end of the series, Oliver hears a sound behind him and, spinning to put an arrow in it, catches only an empty Deathstroke mask with the note "This is yours - we're not done." In the TV series, it seems that Slade brought that Deathstroke mask and possibly the arrow as well with him from the Island, and then leaves it on a rooftop as a menacing message for Ollie. There's probably a better-than-fair chance that there's a message on a post-it attached to the mask in the photo above...but even if not, the connection seems close enough to call it a cool, little Easter egg.
