Despite having departed as a series regular following last Wednesday's episode of Arrow, actor Colton Haynes took to Twitter this weekend to thank fans and tell them "Roy Harper will see you soon."

Unsurprisingly, that's got fans expecting him to say he'll be back at some point in Season Four, in spite of the fact that producers have been open about the fact that a two-year run was always in the cards for the San Andreas star.

"We knew in large portion at the beginning of the year how we were going to pull it off," showrunner Marc Guggenheim told reporters on Friday, adding "There's a reason we didn't kill off Roy. We want Roy Harper and Arsenal to remain in this little universe we're creating, and Colton was totally game for that."

Haynes is scheduled to return for at least one more episode, and Guggenheim acknowledged that his departure was different than most that we've seen on Arrow -- not least of all because they did not kill the character before the actor left.

"This is a little bit different from our normal departure," said executive producer Marc Guggenheim during a roundtable interview with journalists Friday. "Not just in the fact that Colton's not dead, but when Colton came on board the show as a recurring in Season One, he'd just come off of Teen Wolf, he wasn't sure if he wanted to do another series. It was kind of like, 'Come on over to Arrow and play with us for a little bit and if it's working out for you, then we can talk about making youba regular.' Actually, we've taken this approach with actors before when they're not sure if they want to commit to a series or not. Colton did come on board and did have a good time and we made a two-year deal with him. So this wasn't a situation where we had someone in the middle of their contract. It wasn't like Susannah last year or Colin the year before. We always knew we would have Colton for years two and three, so we started the year off with this endgame in mind."
