With San Diego Comic-Con 2016 now in full swing, it's a great time to for fun reveals from our favorite geek-culture TV shows and movies - and few shows get as much fan love as Ash vs. Evil Dead. In fact, the Evil Dead franchise and its star, Bruce Campbell, were practically sustained by devoted fans at conventions like SDCC in the years between the heyday of the original Evil Dead movies and the more recent reboot/revival on both the big and small screens.
Speaking of the latter: Ash vs. Evil Dead got a very early season 2 renewal from Starz - though ultimately the show's ratings fell on the low side. But again, Campbell and the Evil Dead property have some kind of cult-status sustainability, and Ash vs. Evil Dead has strong critical acclaim behind it. If you haven't seen it (watch below), the recent season 2 trailer that debuted for SDCC16 actually looks like a good time!
As revealed in the trailer and elaborated on in an article over at EW, season 2 will (SEASON 1 SPOILERS INCOMING) see Ash kicking back and living his version of the good life in Jacksonville, FL, while his protege Pablo (Ray Santiago) handles the Evil Dead killing. As Campbell told EW:
"Pablo's got a crazy journey this year... The stuff he goes through makes my life seem easy. I think we're going to find out that he's not just Ash's sidekick. I don't think Ray had any idea what was coming. Some of the horrors that await Pablo…"
Of course there are some "horrors" waiting to surprise Ash, as well: namely, family. Joining the cast of Ash vs. Evil Dead season 2 is the Six Million Dollar Man himself, Lee Majors, as Ash's father. "He's even grumpier than Ash," Campbell told EW.
Fans of Ash vs. Evil Dead (or just Bruce Campbell) should look out for the show's season 2 preview during its Comic-Con panel on Saturday @ 6:45pm – 7:45pm in Room 6A. If you're at SDCC16 there's also a season 2 World Premiere Screening of Ash vs Evil Dead @ 10:00pm – 11:00pm in Room 6DE.
Ash vs. Evil Dead season 2 will premiere on Starz in October.
