The legendary video game company Atari has filed for bankruptcy in the United States. While the news doesn't come as a huge surprise as the company has been suffering from well-reported financial difficulties, the brand name still has huge nostalgia for kids who grew up playing video games in the seventies and eighties. At one time, Atari was so popular, they even partnered with DC Comics to produce a line of Atari Force comic books. The original Atari Force comic books were packed in with Atari video games. However, a second series of Atari Force comic books were released in newsstands and ran for twenty issues. Both Atari Force teams were lead by Martin Champion. According to the LA Times, the bankruptcy filing for Atari Inc. in the United States is a move to break away from its parent company Atari S.A., which has a large amount of debt. The plan is to reportedly try to find a buyer to take Atari Inc. private.
