Avengers IMAX Midnight Screenings Will Carry Exclusive Poster

Shown at left is the "12:01 exclusive" poster, announced by Marvel, that will be handed out by Disney at IMAX screenings of Marvel's The Avengers taking place next Thursday night/Friday, May 4, at 12:01 a.m. It seems likely that, after more than a dozen posters released over the last month, this will be the final official poster image released by Disney/Marvel, although some of the Mondo posters are have still not yet been unveiled. It's a promotional gimmick the studio experimented with on John Carter, and while the film famously underperformed, apparently response to the promotion was positive enough that they felt it was a worthwhile promotion to undertake for The Avengers. Featuring art by Ryan Meinerding, the poster is not entirely unlike the theatrical poster, except that Captain America is wearing his mask and the character poses are slightly different. Black Widow gets a bit more visibility here, as she (along with Nick Fury, not present on this poster) was fairly hidden in the background of the official theatrical poster.
