Detective Comics #18

When DC Comics originally released the cover for Detective Comics #18, it showed Batman battling the Penguin as seen below. However, the Penguin cover was just to keep from revealing the closely-guarded secret that Robin was going to die in Batman Incorporated #8. Ok, so maybe it wasn't exactly a closely-guarded secret as DC Comics leaked the fate of Robin to the press early, but at the time that Detective Comics #18 was originally revealed it was still somewhat of a secret. Now, Newsarama has the first look at the new cover for Detective Comics #18 as seen above. Detective Comics #18 will be the first Batman comic book to hit comic book stores after the events of Batman Incorporated #8. On the cover, Batman mourns the loss of Robin by clutching Robin's tattered and bloody cape while standing in the rain in the middle of a lightning storm. You know it's funny how there's always a storm after someone dies in a comic book. Why can't anyone die on a bright and sunny day? Detective Comics #18 is set to arrive in comic book stores on March 6, 2013. The cover will carry the words "Requiem" with the Robin logo as the "R". It's unknown if the other Batman family titles will follow suit with similar "Requiem" branding.
