Diamond Comics Distributors have released their list of the ten best-selling direct market comic books in January 2014, and it's all Big Two comics. In fact, there's only two non-Avengers- or Justice League-related titles in the top ten this month at all--DC's Harley Quinn #2 and Marvel's All-New X-Men #22.NOW. The top two spots were taken by Batman #27 and Detective Comics #27, in spite of the latter's massive price tag which likely made it the month's biggest moneymaker. those were followed up by Avengers World #1 and then Justice League #27 (a Forever Evil tie-in). Superior Spider-Man #25 and #26 show up at the fifth and seventh place spots on the list, divided only by the aforementioned All-New X-Men and trailed by Harley QuinnAvengers #25 and Justice League of America  #11 round out the top ten. Interestingly, while two Forever Evil tie-ins make the list (Justice League and Justice League of America), the event miniseries itself, in spite of being the hub of the crossover and having an all-star creative team, doesn't make the cut. Other than Avengers World #1 and Detective Comics #27, in fact, there aren't any "special" or prestige issues on the list--just regular ol' monthly comics. That might explain why there was a 5.87% dollar slide and a 7.17% reduction in total unit sales over December 2013.
